Walmart's October Deals Event (Oct 5–11, 2026): What Sellers Should Know
Walmart will run its October "Deals" event from October 5 to 11, 2026, a full week that wraps around Amazon's two-day Prime Big Deal Days. For Walmart Marketplace sellers it is the first big traffic test of the holiday season, and it comes as Walmart's online business is growing fast. Here is what was announced, the numbers behind it and how to prepare.
What Walmart announced
- Dates. According to Fox Business (Sept 16, 2026), the "Deals" sale starts at 12 a.m. ET on October 5 and runs through October 11, overlapping Amazon's October 6–7 event.
- No membership required. Unlike Amazon's members-only event, the sale is open to all shoppers. NBC News Select reports that Walmart+ members ($12.95 a month or $98 a year) get early access to Walmart sales.
- Advertised discounts. Fox Business lists up to 50% off home, 40% off tech, 30% off toys, food and Halloween, 25% off tools and 20% off wellness items.
- Walmart's reasoning. A Walmart spokesperson told Fox Business: "We plan our events around how and when our customers want to shop. We know many customers are starting to think about the holidays earlier."
| Category | Advertised discount (up to) |
|---|---|
| Home | 50% |
| Tech | 40% |
| Toys, food, Halloween | 30% |
| Tools | 25% |
| Wellness | 20% |

Why the event matters more this year
In its Q2 FY27 earnings release (Aug 20, 2026), Walmart reported that Walmart U.S. eCommerce grew 24% year over year, "with strength in store-fulfilled delivery, advertising, and marketplace," while Walmart Connect advertising rose 43% (excluding VIZIO). CNBC also covered the results on the day of release.
October at a glance
| Date (2026) | Event |
|---|---|
| Oct 5–11 | Walmart "Deals" sale (open to all shoppers) |
| Oct 6–7 | Amazon Prime Big Deal Days (Prime members only) |
If you also sell on Amazon, see our Prime Big Deal Days prep plan for Amazon's data and deadlines, and plan both events together rather than as two separate projects.
What it means for sellers (our analysis)
- A week, not a day. A seven-day event spreads traffic out. Budgets and stock need to last the whole week, not just the first morning.
- Price comparison across channels. The overlap with Amazon means many shoppers will compare prices on both sites. If you sell on both, decide deliberately where each deal runs and keep prices consistent with each platform's pricing rules.
- Ads are getting more competitive. Walmart Connect's growth means more brands are bidding. Expect higher costs per click during the event and plan budgets accordingly.
- Fulfillment speed wins placement. Walmart's growth is led by fast delivery. Items with two-day or faster delivery promises are more likely to convert.
Checklist for Walmart sellers this week
- Check promotions in Seller Center. Review which reduced-price or promotional options are available to your account for the event window, and set start and end dates for October 5–11.
- Protect your margin. Recalculate each deal price after Walmart's referral fee, fulfillment cost and ad spend.
- Top up inventory. Confirm WFS or warehouse stock covers a full week of higher sales, plus a buffer for the start of holiday shopping.
- Raise Sponsored Products budgets for the week and watch pacing daily, especially on October 5 and on Amazon's event days.
- Update listings. Refresh titles, images and attributes for gifting, and fix any content quality issues flagged in Seller Center.
- Keep performance clean. Upload valid tracking for every order and answer customer messages quickly; a busy week can hurt metrics fast.
Tip: Treat this week as a rehearsal for Black Friday. Record units, conversion and ad costs per day so you can plan November with real numbers.
