Amazon Accelerate 2026: Seller Assistant Upgrade and New AI Plugin

Amazon used its Accelerate 2026 seller conference in Seattle (September 22–24, 2026) to announce what it calls the biggest upgrade to its seller tools in a decade. The headline: Seller Assistant now works across your whole business, and a new plugin lets sellers run parts of their Amazon account from outside AI tools such as Amazon Quick and Anthropic's Claude. Here is what was announced, what is still in beta, and what we think sellers should do now.

What Amazon announced

On September 23, 2026, Amazon published details of the following changes. These are the facts as Amazon and independent press reported them:

  • A broader Seller Assistant. The AI assistant inside Seller Central is now described as connecting sales, inventory, advertising and compliance in one place, rather than answering isolated questions.
  • Memory across sessions. Amazon says Seller Assistant now remembers a seller's pricing patterns, inventory cycles and growth goals, and that this context carries across Seller Central, Amazon Quick and Claude.
  • Background automations. Sellers can set up monitoring that runs even when they are not logged in, with an audit trail. Amazon's example is an alert if any of your top 10 products drops below a 4-star rating.
  • Canvas. A visual workspace built on the fly from your live data, for example to compare pricing strategies or diagnose an ad campaign, which updates as you ask follow-up questions.
  • A selling partner plugin for outside AI tools. The plugin connects listings, performance metrics, inventory and sales data to Amazon Quick and to Anthropic's Claude, and lets those tools act on the data (for example checking inventory, adjusting prices or updating listings) with the seller approving actions. Amazon says it launches in Amazon Quick and in beta with Claude, for sellers in Amazon's U.S. stores first, with international expansion planned. Sellers choose which data the plugin can access.
  • Free Amazon Quick Plus for a year. Amazon is offering every primary selling account holder worldwide a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription, plus two co-workers at no cost. Amazon says the offer is available through December 31, 2026.

GeekWire, reporting from the event, quoted Amazon VP Mary Beth Westmoreland describing the goal that sellers "would never have to log into Seller Central." Exact feature availability can differ by account and marketplace, so check the announcements in your own Seller Central before planning around any single feature.

What it means for sellers (our analysis)

1. Routine account work is getting cheaper

Daily checks such as stock levels, rating drops, suppressed listings and budget pacing are exactly what background automations are designed for. Small teams that spend the first hour of each day clicking through reports should be able to take some of that time back. The value is not in the AI itself but in catching problems earlier.

2. Judgment still matters more than ever

Amazon says sellers approve actions before they run, and that is important. An assistant can propose a price cut or a bid change; it does not know your landed cost, your cash position, your supplier's next production slot or your brand's positioning unless you give it that context. Treat recommendations as a well-informed first draft, not as a decision.

3. Access control becomes a real business risk

A plugin that can change prices and listings is powerful, and anyone with access to that connected AI tool may be able to use it. The same discipline you apply to Seller Central user permissions should apply to every connected tool.

4. Cross-border sellers should watch the rollout

The plugin starts with U.S. stores. Many Chinese sellers run their U.S. store from teams in China and use several tools at once, so test with one store and one small, low-risk workflow before connecting everything.

What to do now: a short checklist

  1. Claim the offer if it fits. If you are a primary account holder and want to try Amazon Quick Plus, review the terms in Seller Central and note the December 31, 2026 date.
  2. Start with read-only questions. Ask Seller Assistant to explain last week's sales change or rank your SKUs by inventory risk, and check its answers against your own reports.
  3. Set up two or three alerts. Good first candidates: rating drops on top ASINs, low days of cover before peak season, and listing suppressions.
  4. Keep humans on money decisions. Require manual approval for price changes, budget increases and bulk listing edits, especially in Q4.
  5. Review permissions. List who can access Seller Central and every connected AI tool. Remove anyone who no longer needs it, and never share the primary account password.
  6. Document your context. Write down margins, price floors and stock targets so both people and AI tools work from the same numbers.
Tip: Peak season is not the time to hand an untested automation your pricing. Pilot new workflows on a few SKUs now, and scale only what you have checked.
