Walmart Listing Quality Score: The 5 Components and How to Improve Them

On Walmart Marketplace, a listing that is merely "live" isn't enough. Walmart scores every item on Listing Quality, and that score affects how visible your products are and whether you qualify for perks such as the Pro Seller badge. The good news: Walmart tells you exactly what goes into the score. This guide explains each component and how to improve it.

What the Listing Quality score is

According to Walmart's Listing Quality: Overview guide (updated Apr 9, 2026), "Quality listings drive higher conversion rates and boost product visibility, allowing you to unlock growth opportunities such as the Pro Seller badge." You get two scores:

  • Item-level score for each individual listing.
  • Catalog-level score, which is the average of your item-level scores.

Walmart's Listing Quality program page also ties the dashboard to "your Pro Seller Badge status" and "referral fee savings and more perks."

The five components

ComponentWhat Walmart measuresHow to improve it
Content quality"The efficacy of your listing's item name, item description, key features and images"Clear titles with brand, type and key attributes; complete descriptions; 3+ key features; multiple high-quality images
Price competitiveness"Compares your price against similar products on external marketplaces"Check the Pricing insights dashboard; avoid prices well above the same item elsewhere
Shipping"Your promised delivery speed across ZIP codes"Shorten handling time, add fulfillment locations, consider WFS for fast items
Published & in stockHow often the item is available to customers, based on the last seven daysKeep inventory synced; restock before you run out; fix unpublished items quickly
Ratings & reviews"The number of customer reviews and its average rating"Use legitimate review programs; fix product issues behind low ratings

Source: Walmart Marketplace Learn, Listing Quality: Overview (Apr 9, 2026). Walmart does not publish the weight of each component in this guide.

In its shipping section, the guide notes that "items that weigh more than 50 pounds or are listed at $10 or less aren't included in your Listing Quality score calculations." Focus shipping fixes on your mid-weight, mid-price items first.

Where to start: a practical order

  1. In stock first. Because availability is measured over the last seven days, stockouts hurt quickly. Sync inventory feeds and set restock alerts.
  2. Content second. Content fixes are within your control and apply immediately. Work through your top-selling items and fill every attribute.
  3. Price third. If your price is far above the same item on other marketplaces, the score and your sales both suffer. Decide whether to match, bundle or differentiate.
  4. Shipping fourth. Faster delivery promises often need operational changes (warehouse location, carrier cutoffs or WFS).
  5. Reviews last, but steadily. Reviews take time. Never offer incentives for positive reviews; see our FTC fake reviews rule guide.

Content checklist for each listing

  • Title: brand + product type + key attribute (size, color, count, material).
  • Key features: at least three concise bullet points focused on benefits and specs.
  • Description: full details, use cases, what's in the box and care instructions.
  • Images: clean main image plus angles, scale and lifestyle shots.
  • Attributes: complete every required and recommended field in Seller Center.

Common mistakes

  • Fixing only the lowest scores. A small item with a terrible score matters less than a best seller with an average one. Prioritize by revenue.
  • Copying Amazon content as-is. Walmart has its own attributes and title rules; fill Walmart's fields rather than pasting another marketplace's listing.
  • Ignoring stock for slow movers. Unpublished or out-of-stock items still drag down your catalog average.
  • Chasing price alone. Matching the lowest price everywhere can wreck margins; sometimes bundles or a better listing are smarter.

How Listing Quality fits with other metrics

Listing Quality is about your items. Walmart also tracks account-level seller performance standards such as on-time delivery and cancellation rate. Both matter: a great listing on an account with poor delivery performance will still struggle.

Weekly Listing Quality routine

  1. Check the catalog-level score and sort items by lowest score.
  2. Fix content issues on the top 20 revenue items first.
  3. Review in-stock rates for the last seven days.
  4. Compare prices on your top items with other marketplaces.
  5. Track whether score changes lead to more traffic and conversions.
